Tips on starting a conversation

As someone who had spent years and thousands of ₹₹₹ on "Christian" matrimony sites before I got married, I can certainly say I have had my fair share of awkward & embarrassing moments smile

I would like to suggest a few ways on HOW TO and HOW NOT TO start a conversation with someone here on Genesis 2:18.

The Good :
Hello XYZ, I went through your profile and noticed that
  • your calling is ______ OR
  • you are interested in _______ OR
  • you have experience in ________ . I have similar interests too and would like to add you to my friends list to get to know you better.

The Bad :
  • Hi dear!
  • Hello, please share mobile number. my number is 9850xxxxxx
  • Hi, please upload more photos
  • Hello, I feel we both make a good match...
  • Hello, can you cook ? Can you make round rotis ?
  • Hi Brother/Sister, you didn't mention your salary details...

The Ugly :
  • Hello, I am contacting you for my son/daughter/friend/sibling/relative... (who is not interested in marrying and has outsourced the searching to me)
  • Praise the Lord Brother/Sister! Where are your parents originally from ? (But what I'm actually trying to find out is which caste/community do you belong to ?)

Note: You are just getting to know the person. Do not be too pushy, at the same time do not be scared to accept a genuine request.
If you do come across a troublesome user, you always have the option to report him/her.

The rotis point is very relevant! When I was still single, someone actually started conversation by asking me to name different dishes that I can cook
I have pretty much received all the above messages , except “Hi dear” and “can you cook?” 🙂
